Welcome to the Tasmanian Design House — an unforgettable accommodation experience.

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Tasmania while enjoying the comforts of our architect-designed boutique accommodation. Our property features two light-filled bedrooms, each with their own beautifully-appointed bathroom, nestled in bushland with incredible views of King George Sound and the surrounding landscape.

Relax and recharge on our large deck space, perfect for morning coffee or watching the sun go down over the water. Our well-appointed kitchen, featuring Smeg appliances and custom cabinetry crafted by master cabinetmaker Bernd Farasin, is perfect for preparing delicious meals using local produce.

We provide a complementary breakfast basket of eggs, cereals, bread, butter, jam, and juice to start your day, as well as snacks and wine to welcome you to the house. And, of course, coffee and tea are always available.

The Tasmanian Design House is approximately 45 minutes from Hobart International Airport and 30 minutes from Port Arthur, making it the perfect base for exploring local wineries, the Tasman National Park, and the world-heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site.

Discover Nature

The Tasman Peninsula is a stunning destination that offers many places to explore, including beautiful beaches, rugged sea cliffs, and scenic walks. Several of Tasmania's "Great Short Walks" can be found, including the walks to Cape Huay and Crescent Bay. Beaches such as Pirates Bay and Murdunna's own Sommers Bay offer plenty of opportunities for swimming and relaxing. Wildlife abounds.

The area has a range of dining options, from high-end restaurants like Van Bone to more casual spots like the Dunalley Hotel. The nearby Bangor Vineyard Shed won Gold at the Australian Tourism Awards for its offering of quality food and wine. Other great wineries and distilleries like Cape Bernier Vineyard and McHenry Distillery are not far away. Enjoy locally-roasted coffee with unparalleled views at the Cubed Espresso Bar.

The Peninsula has a rich history, including its role as a convict penal settlement in the 19th century; visitors can explore this history at several historic sites including the World-heritage-listed Port Arthur and Coal Mines Historic Sites. Take a Tasman Island Cruise to see the rugged coastline up close or head to the Eaglehawk Dive Centre for world-class scuba diving opportunities.
